Jay Murray serves Adaptive3D as the Director of North American Sales. He took some time to share his experience and thoughts on the 3D printing and additive manufacturing field. Learn about Jay below!

What was your role at that company?
West Region Channel Manager
What is your specialty as far as background work and major?
Economics Degree from the University of Iowa. 10+ years in additive manufacturing.
What are your main responsibilities at Adaptive3D?
Driving revenue growth as the leader in Elastomeric solutions for additive manufacturing.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done at work recently?
Helping customers find a solution for additive elastomers that they had previously been unable to do.
What do you like about working at Adaptive3D?
First, the people. Adaptive3D has assembled some of the brightest minds in material science and they are all genuinely nice people. Second, to be able to provide a solution in elastomers that until now has not been attainable.
Why did you choose the additive manufacturing/3D printing field?
A close friend of mine had been in additive for years before I got in. He always talked about how interesting it was. He helped me get my first job in additive at a service bureau.
Where do you see 3D printing in 5 years?
With the development of materials like Elastic Tough Rubber and machine advancements, I believe Additive will finally make the leap as a true alternative to traditional manufacturing methods. Additive will be a production alternative.
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
I coach youth basketball and baseball. Restore old Corvettes with my dad. Woodworking and remodeling.
What is something you’re involved in, personally or professionally, that you’d like to see more 3D-Printed parts?
I have a child who is a type 1 diabetic so I very interested in Bio printing and the ability to print tissue and some day organs. It’s also exciting to see additive used on a greater scale for prosthetics.
